Weaknesses

Laufer’s weakness heatmap

Laufer’s weakness map represents the probability of weakpoints spawning on various alien body parts. Green color highlights the areas where these points generate less often, whereas, in the places marked red, they appear most frequently. Please note that in no way does it affect the damage dealt unless you attack the weakpoint directly. So, for example, if you target the head when no weakpoint is present, you’ll get the same result as if you tried to attack the rest of the body.

Resistances

Laufers are pretty vulnerable creatures. They’re susceptible to all forms of damage. Aggravating them might prove to be a little more difficult, though.

  •  Bleed – 130% vulnerability
  •  Blind – 120% vulnerability
  •  Dizzy – 10% vulnerability
  •  Fear – 70% vulnerability
  •  Hatred – 30% resistance
  •  Ignite – 10% vulnerability
  •  Poison – 50% vulnerability
  •  Stun – 60% vulnerability

Resistances affect a weapon’s base debuff multiplier (100%). With no resistance, the chance to apply a debuff is what you see on a weapon’s card. So, for example, if your weapon has a 10% Hatred enhancement, each hit with that weapon has 10% (base chance) * (100% – 0%) (base debuff multiplier) = 10% chance to apply the Hatred debuff. However, with Laufer’s 30% resistance to the debuff, that number is decreased to 10% * (100% – 30%) = 7% chance. Alternatively, a weapon with a 10% Blind enhancement would be more effective due to Laufer being vulnerable to the Blind debuff. 10% * (100% + 120%) = 22% chance to make the target blind.

Lore

Laufers come from Leiosa, where they are very common and effective predators. The creatures barely survive in Earth’s conditions and probably do not reproduce here. Their hunting efficiency is limited because the level of oxygen in the atmosphere is almost twice too small for the comfort level. This also makes them fall victim to other aliens – they faint or randomly go blind from the lack of oxygen during fights. When encountering a Laufer, you should be careful, especially at the beginning. After that, the animal will quickly tire out.

Trivia

  • The name Laufer comes from the German word “runner.” It is also co-officially known as a bishop chess piece in Polish (alongside with “goniec”).
